Following the Body Image community forum on 1 November 2023, the following is a list of Resources, Programs, Advice and Treatment, Online Safety and links for Educators.

This list is intended for anyone wanting to better understand how to talk to and support young people on the topic of body image and for available services in and around Wentworth. 


The Butterfly Foundation

Resources, phone, email, and live webchat support for anyone in Australia impacted by an eating disorder or a body image issue. The website also has a referral database to find specialists easily.

Butterfly Body Kind Schools

Australia's largest annual positive body image movement for young people (aged 11-18), with free and engaging activities to help young Australians find ways to be kind to their own body and to others.

Butterfly Body Kind Families

Body Kind Families is a FREE initiative designed to boost parents’/carers’ confidence in promoting positive body image and responding to body image concerns in their teenage children

Butterfly Body Bright

Butterfly Body Bright is a whole of primary school body image program for all Australian primary schools

Connect.ed directory

ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder dietitians and mental health professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists (OTs), mental health nurses, psychiatrists and GPs who provide psychological evidence-based treatment.

InsideOut (Institute for Eating Disorders) Treatment Services Database

Assists in finding a private practitioner, community clinic or program, day program, in hospital treatment, support group or clinical supervisor.

Provides lived-experience support, information, validation, education and advocacy to empower families and carers in their journeys with their own loved ones.

Psychological Support Services (PSS)

Psychological Support Services (PSS) provides free access to short-term psychological therapy either face-to-face or via telehealth for people who live in the Central and Eastern Sydney region for those experiencing financial hardship or low income.

Referral via GP or mental health practitioner for under serviced and hard to reach groups.
