Hi Allegra,

It’s great to be back on the tools after a big few weeks! I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our campaign. I’m so proud of the positive, people-powered campaign we ran – and so grateful to be re-elected with an increased margin and having also won the primary vote.

Whether you voted for me or not, I will continue to be a representative up for our whole community. My door is always open to hear about your ideas or concerns.

This election was record-breaking for independents and I’m proud that Wentworth was a big part of that story

Across the country, more than a million Australians backed independents and for the first time in more than 60 years, ABC analysis suggests the combined vote for independents and minor parties may outstrip that of a major party.

During our campaign in Wentworth, I had the privilege of speaking to thousands of you across the electorate – on street corners, at forums, in cafes and on doorsteps. During the 5-week campaign, here’s a quick snapshot of what we achieved together:

  • 309 local volunteeer activities
  • 10,000+ doors knocked
  • 1600+ volunteers helping power our campaign
  • 9 Politics in the Pub style events

Celebrating our win with so many of you at the Bondi Bowlo was completely electric. Here are some of the photo highlights!

A time for bold reform

Now, the hard work begins. Parliament will be different this term. With the Greens a lessening force in the House and the Coalition in disarray, it will be up to the Independents to hold the government to account, put the difficult issues on the agenda and ensure it delivers.

The Crossbench will be critical in building back sensible reform in the centre. This will include on issues such as climate and the environment, integrity and social issues but also on supporting businesses to thrive, productivity and economic reform.

This term, I’ll be pushing for bold reform – starting with:

✔ Accelerated climate action – including stronger 2035 targets and more support for households and businesses to electrify and save on their energy bills.

Real tax reform – to tackle bracket creep, boost productivity, support innovation, and help young people get ahead.

✔ Standing up for start-ups and innovative businesses - including standing up against the unfair taxing of unrealised gains.

✔ Fixing our broken environmental laws.

Whilst these are some initial focus areas for me, I will also continue to hold this government accountable for taking real action on housing, fostering a kinder community, and improving integrity in politics.

Come say hi at my next pop-up office!

I will be at Bondi Junction station this Friday from 7:45-8:45am.

I would love to have a chat about what's on your mind and how I can help.

Regards,
