Hi Allegra,

Our community remains in mourning after the shocking attacks in Bondi Junction. We are all devastated by what happened on Saturday, and it has never been important that we are there to help and support each other.

Details are now emerging of some of the victims of this senseless act of violence, who have been cruelly taken from their loved ones much too soon.

They include 38-year-old mother Ashlee Good, who was attacked alongside her nine-month-old baby; 25-year-old Dawn Singleton, who was soon to marry her high-school sweetheart; 47-year-old Jade Young, a Bronte Surf Life Saving Club member; 30-year-old Faraz Tahir, a security guard who sought refuge in Australia after fleeing persecution in Pakistan; 55-year-old artist and designer Pikri Darchia.

They will be forever in our hearts – and our condolences go out to the victims, their families, and everyone who has been affected. Our thoughts are with them, and all those who remain in hospital.

Yesterday I joined the Prime Minister, NSW Premier, and leaders in laying tributes to the victims of the attack – and to pay tribute to the heroic actions of the police, first responders, and members of the public.

If you would like to do the same, the best place to do so is at the top of Bondi Junction Mall, outside the West Elm shop on Oxford Street.

There are condolence books available to sign, or you can do so onlinehere.

Flags will be at half-mast from all government buildings today, and the sails of the Sydney Opera House will be lit-up in remembrance at 6pm.

I know that for many of us, a public act of commemoration in the coming days is also incredibly important. I am working closely with our local Councils and State MPs on this and we will provide more details shortly.

The days and months ahead will be incredibly difficult, so I want you to know that my team and I are here to support you.

I have been working closely with the Prime Minister and Premier’s office to ensure appropriate support is available to our community.

The best place to find the latest information and services available is through the dedicated page on my website: www.AllegraSpender.com.au/BondiJunctionAttacks.
